BOOK EVENTS: 2023 Sunshine Book Festival

Last updated on September 15, 2023

Writer’s Alliance of Gainesville, a local writers’ group, hosted its fourth annual book event this past weekend. I have joined all three and feel this is their best so far. Many authors came from outlying areas, like Georgia and South Florida, and the selection of books ranged from epic fantasy to memoir to historical. I was also impressed with the number of children’s authors who exhibited.

Around 150 authors participated, and I always enjoy meeting new authors and catching up with some I haven’t seen for a while. Writing is a rather solitary art, so I find these events uplifting and encouraging. Because of time constraints, I attend only a few writer conferences and book festivals each year, so I try to make the most of these opportunities.

My life is full and blessed between ham radio, closed captioning, writing, and mothering (you are always a mother, even when your children leave home). Lord willing, I’ll be traveling to Israel next month, and I have two projects in the works that I will share soon.

I hope you will check out my latest book, The Night Cometh: 20 Fantastical Short Stories that will make you think about heaven, hell, life, death, and eternity.
