1st Place in the ’25 Christian Indie Book Awards |

Nothing is too big or too small for God. Can we find God’s Good Works, purpose, and calling in our lives in the most unlikely of places? Who knows what we will see in God’s bountiful gifts, but wonderment in that He always remembers—even you and me.

A baby squirrel falls out of his nest. An injured cat hobbles across a busy street. A voice cries in the wilderness. A decaying worm lies in the Valley of Megiddo—why did I stop to take that photo?

My most recent book, God Good Works: Stories to Treasure and Tales to Ponder, contains such anthologies to lift the spirit and remind us that God is in control even when we don’t see His handiwork.

I recently won the 2025 Christian Indie Book Award for Anthology. However, I could still use a few more positive reviews to raise my ranking to 4.0.

While I was at the Blue Lake Christian Writers’ Conference, I was chosen for an interview by Bob Crittenden with Faith Radio about my books. He sent me some questions for the interview ahead of time, which I answered, so I didn’t go down rabbit trails during the interview. Still, we went down rabbit trails anyway, as we had so much in common–like living only a few miles from each other, growing up, and being almost the same age–in Marietta, Georgia. Sometimes you find the world is smaller than you think.

Here is my interview with Bob Crittenden from Faith Radio in Birmingham, Alabama.

What is your purpose for being here at Blue Lake?

I am a Christian indie author, and I entered my book, God’s Good Works, in the 2025 Christian Indie Book Awards. I am a finalist for the nonfiction anthology category. The winners will be announced tonight, so I came to see if I won. Of course, I love meeting other authors and attending the various classes to become a better writer. There is always something to learn.

How has God directed you to become a writer?

The two times in my life when I have felt closest to God are when scuba diving and when writing. I asked a friend, “Why do you think that is?” The two things are unrelated, and so I saw no connection. And my friend said, “That’s probably when you feel you need God the most.”

As I thought about it, she was right. As the years have passed, I’ve seen how my imagination is God’s gift to draw me to Himself. As I think about all my scuba diving trips, even to Israel and Australia, I see God’s incredible beauty under the ocean. It is a world outside my comfort zone, but one that sparks my imagination. If God created all of this for the sheer joy of creating, what might await us in His eternal kingdom?

My imagination, sanctified by God, creates the stories I write about trials, difficulties, hope, truth, and redemption. I believe God gave me the ability to write to encourage others to see the world differently. Jesus used stories to convey truths that transcend time and culture. And that is my hope and purpose: to use stories to bring the truth of the Gospel into the hearts and minds of young readers.

Please tell our listeners about your latest writing project.

My latest project is the Eighth Dimension Trilogy, a spin-off from the Seventh Dimension Series. The Seventh Dimension and Eighth Dimension deal with parallel universes outside of time. They are spiritual dimensions in which our choices have eternal consequences.

In Eighth Dimension – Frequency, Chumana is a young woman trapped in a life of caretaking, questioning her origins and convinced God has abandoned her, if he ever existed. But her world is about to shatter. What if a hidden race, a superior intelligence, existed beyond our reality, acting as agents of the divine? A mastermind capable of bringing peace or wielding unimaginable power? What if her father were a part of something that could save the world from extinction? Chumana, with her extraordinary mind, is determined to find out, even if it means confronting the very nature of faith and the mysteries of creation. Prepare to question everything you know about God’s role in the universe.

What inspired this project?

The Seventh Dimension Series and Eighth Dimension Trilogy are inspired by a quote from A.W. Tozer in The Pursuit of God: “A spiritual kingdom lies all about us, enclosing us, embracing us, altogether within reach of our inner selves, waiting for us to recognize it. God Himself is here waiting for our response to His Presence. This eternal world will come alive to us the moment we begin to reckon upon its reality.”

What Christian principles do you desire to communicate?

The choices we make have eternal consequences. Is God in control? Or is the Bible a lie?

Matthew 24:4 states: “And Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you.’”

Satan’s ability to deceive is an all-out attack on the family, children, culture, education, history, and worldly success without God.

The Lord’s return is very near. Salvation is a gift, but we earn rewards. I want to encourage listeners: don’t waste your life. Earn rewards through Godly good works, remembering Jesus loves you. Even if you don’t know Jesus as your personal Savior, He knows you. He wants you to tune into His frequency and seek Him. One of my favorite picture books I read to my children was The Runaway Bunny. It was about a bunny who ran away from home, and his mother followed him in relentless pursuit.

That is how God is with us. Don’t be deceived by the Father of Lies. My book Frequency shows how far Satan’s deception can seem convincingly authentic, especially for vulnerable people. Anyone who dabbles in the occult is Satan’s target. Sinners who are unwilling to forgive others are easy prey. Arrogant people full of pride usually hang themselves in the gallows of vainglory. Don’t be that person. Be the man or woman God created you to be by coming to know Jesus as your Savior, and He will change your life.
