I considered attending the rally on January 6, 2021, in Washington DC for one reason: Trump asked his supporters to come. As I thought and prayed about it, I sensed God leading me to go.

I am a broadcast captioner, and I’ve spent the last twenty years providing broadcast captioning for television. Twenty years before that, I worked as a court reporter. I have reported/captioned, no doubt, billions of words from news, sports, criminal/civil trials, and depositions, which gives me a unique perspective to report what I’ve witnessed.

Let me add another reason for my motivation to attend the rally: In the last sixteen years, beginning with the Obama era, I have seen a degradation in news reporting—from unbiased reporting to biased reporting to complete lies.

I am glad I went to the Trump rally in Washington DC because I know the media is lying to the American people about the events of that historic day. And if they lie about that, how can I trust them on news I know nothing about?

My friend and I arrived at the Whitehouse/Capitol grounds on January 6, 2021, at 7:30 a.m. When Trump’s speech ended, we walked from there to the Capitol and stayed until about 5:30 p.m. The City mayor had issued a curfew, so everyone needed to vacate the area by 6:00 p.m.

Restaurants and government buildings were closed. Even the eating establishment in the hotel we stayed at, the Hyatt Regency, within walking distance of the Capitol, was closed except for takeout food.

When I returned to the hotel from the Capitol and flipped on the news, I was horrified to see what the news outlets were reporting in real-time: Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, and people died.

I later learned the woman shot was a veteran, and she was shot by the police, not a Trump supporter. But the media didn’t say that. Why did they present the information to convince anyone watching that the Trump rally caused an insurrection and that Trump had incited his followers to commit violence?

Nothing could be further from the truth. However, nobody believed my version of events when I talked about it. Pictures speak a thousand words, so I made a video. I included every photo and video I shot in the eleven-minute video clip for one purpose: To present an unbiased, uncensored account of my experience. My friend captured the last bit of the video because my phone was out of juice when the atmosphere heated up.

The video I took shows the large crowd, the atmosphere, and what I witnessed from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. I listed no credits, so anyone could copy it without copyright issues. I wanted everyone to know what happened from my vantage point as an eyewitness.

If January 6, 2021, was a coup, it wasn’t at the behest of Trump or Trump supporters. If eyewitness accounts don’t expose the truth, we’ll no longer have a democracy.
