As I begin writing book 2, Counterfeit, in the Eighth Dimension Trilogy, I can’t underestimate how much Dr. Michael Heiser’s work has impacted my Biblical worldview. As a Christian for a long time, I found Dr. Heiser’s discussion of the sons of God in this video new until I started listening to him and reading his books.
I actually have a personal connection to Dr. Heiser, which I won’t go into here. But I will say that my learning about him through a friend turned out to be, I believe, a divine appointment.
Recently, I posed this question to another longtime friend: Do you associate the pantheon of Roman and Greek gods with the sons of God that God assigned to the 70 nations?
I asked her what her thoughts were. Her lack of knowledge of the topic confirmed that I’d have to go deep in my next book to explain the phrase “sons of God.” These sons of God represented the pantheon of gods that the neighboring tribes around Israel worshipped.
While I am trying to reach smart, unchurched young adults with the Gospel, I need born-again Christians to share my book with their friends. If they don’t have any background on this critical topic, as it relates to Scripture, they won’t be willing to do that.
As Dr. Heiser hoped to make difficult-to-comprehend topics understandable to lay Christians, I want to expand his reach to young adults. Young people have seen the Hollywood versions in one form or another for decades.
However, the old stories hidden within the pages of the Bible are far more fantastic. I say hidden because, for too long, too many people have ignored these passages or interpreted them in a way that distorted the meaning in the Hebrew or Greek.
I believe the church has done a disservice to the Body of Christ by failing to address these key issues. In that choice, they have inhibited Christians from fully understanding the Scriptures. When I was 30, recommitted my life to Jesus Christ. For over 30 years, I sat in a church pew week after week and never once heard any pastor talk about what Dr. Michael Heiser presents in this video.
I have read almost all of Dr. Heiser’s books, and I see that God is using him now, maybe more than when he was alive. My former Biblical worldview has been upended, and there is no doubt in my mind that God wants me to write the Eighth Dimension Trilogy to reveal what mainstream Christianity has hidden for a long time.
Eighth Dimension – Frequency lays the groundwork for book two, Eighth Dimension – Counterfeit. May God receive all the glory as I begin work on book 2. And again, I thank Dr. Heiser for his scholarly work and for explaining these concepts in a way that even I, as a non-scholar, can understand.
